The A08S-PS is equipped with an Intel IOP341 800Mz processor and DDRIII memory. The system’s high performance is powered by PCIe technology which gives lightning fast speed. The A08S supports six types of RAID levels (0, 1, 5, 6, 0+1 and JBOD). Taking all this into consideration, it’s a complete RAID solution.
The A08S-PS is a construction that differs greatly from the competition. The major components such as the controller, power supplies and fans are all modular in design. This allows for easy and convenient maintenance and repair.
The A08S-PS utilizes a PCIe interface which is much faster than other interfaces on the market. The PCIe interface provides the highest speed and lowest retardation along with consistent and stable data flow. The system supports 3G SAS and SATA hard-discs. The user may select hard drives depending on their usage and budget. For users who are looking for a cost-friendly storage system, a SATA HDD is an ideal choice to establish a 16TB-large capacity storage solution. Alternatively, for users who demand high data security they can choose the high performance SAS HDD to process a large data flow along with maximum security. Based on PCIe high-tech specifications which provides 250MB/s bandwidth in each channel, the A08S-PS has four data transmission channels which is the reason why the A08S can reach a 10Gb/s bandwidth. If we compare this with FireWire technology’s 250~300MB/s throughput, the A08S’ 750MB/s is much faster. The A08S-PS’ high performance not only stands for maximizing the utilization of every HDD but also represents the quality, standard and efficiency required for all media applications.
Effectively Expand Your Requirements
The editing tasks must be completed as soon as possible after filming or when shooting ends in digital video, photography, television or film post-production. The use of the A08S with the ExaSAN Compact to build a SAN environment with central management would help you to eliminate time-consuming tasks like on-set film handling or grading with your MAC, Linux, or Windows workstations. Regardless of your application, the ExaSAN Compact Solution delivers exceptional performance. A sustained throughput of up to 2000MB/s is possible with the use of up to three A08S units to achieve a 72TB capacity. Editing work will be more flexible and cost-effective.

Effective Workstation
Digital video requires a large amount of bandwidth and storage capacity. The high bandwidth of PCIe provides this speed and performance to allow the user to work with any format without compromise. The A08S has approximately 780MB/s bandwidth so you can easily edit 4 video streams in HD format (uncompressed 10-bit 1080i @30 fps, one stream requires 165MB/s performance) and two streams in 2K DPX format. The A08S is the most highly efficient 8-drive storage system for real-time capture, editing, color grading and play-out processes.

Regain the Missing 20% Performance
When working with media work groups, avoiding a frame drop is the major task for Accusys. The range of performance is the lowest peak in the performance scale. This means there is approximately 20% of the average performance that is missing. The Performance Equalization mode is designed to eliminate frame drops and to ensure the provision of smooth and stable performance. The user can select and activate this feature through the RAIDGuard X application from ExaSAN. The unique access command and memory caching behaviour function will make the continuous I/Os smoother and dramatically reduce the large fluctuations during data transmission.
No Performance Impact
Accusys offers a unique Disk Lag Proof function. When one hard disk has a slow response behaviour in RAID 5 or 6, the other hard disks would continue to provide the correct data transfer and real time response of overall data to the host. Thanks to the Disk Lag Proof feature, ExaSAN will offer continued and stable performance in the disk drive degradation mode.
Editing with Your Personal Workstation
Some editors may be working on a large project and require a huge capacity as well as bandwidth. Accusys provides special functions for these requirements. One workstation may be equipped with a dual port HBA along with two A08S units. The total bandwidth and capacity can double up to 20 Gb/s and 48TB. For people who have higher data security demands, there could be one A08S with SAS hard disk drives for high speed access and another A08S with SATA II hard disk drives as a backup. If you need more capacity, you can upgrade the A08S with an ExaSAN G1 Switch.
